Google has unveiled a new notebook category called 'Google Books.' The direction is to more strongly connect Android, Chrome, and Google Play, centered around Gemini Intelligence.
The Google Book is similar in form to existing Chromebooks but is designed with AI capabilities as a fundamental premise. Users can continue running smartphone apps on the laptop or access Android files directly.
Through Gemini, Google is bringing features such as document summarization, task linking, app recommendations, and search across laptops. The key is to seamlessly continue the workflow from a smartphone to the laptop.
In particular, this is interpreted as a move to make the Android ecosystem resemble Apple's iPhone and Mac connectivity experience. Until now, the connectivity between Android phones and Windows/Chrome OS has been assessed as relatively weak.
There is also a possibility that collaborations with manufacturers such as Samsung, Lenovo, and HP will expand. This indicates a trend of intensifying competition in the AI-centric laptop market.
