Adobe has unveiled the 'Adobe for Creativity' connector, which links with Antropic's AI chatbot, Claude. Users can verbally describe their desired results within Claude and access Adobe's major creative tools to proceed with their work. Various Creative Cloud tools are connected, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Firefly, Express, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign, and Stock. Adobe stated that this connector enables the use of over 50 professional tools within Claude.
The key point is that users don't have to worry about which app to open first. For example, if you request, “Retouch this portrait,” tasks such as lighting correction, background blurring, automatic leveling, and portrait cropping can be applied in sequence. When creating social content, you can explain the campaign direction, load Adobe Express templates to change text and colors, and even add animations. You can also request to convert horizontal videos into vertical videos for YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels directly within Claude.
This integration demonstrates that generative AI is moving beyond the stage of creating images or videos to becoming an interface that coordinates various software tasks. Until now, designers worked by editing images in Photoshop, trimming videos in Premiere, creating banners in Express, and then moving files. The process is now shifting to a model where the user speaks their goal, and the AI selects the necessary tools and organizes the workflow.
This is a significant change for Adobe as well. If AI chatbots become the starting point for creative work, there may be an increase in situations where users do not open Adobe apps directly. Rather than blocking this trend, Adobe chose to integrate its tools into the AI conversational environment. In essence, the app becomes a professional execution tool called upon by the AI, rather than the destination itself.
This strategy is also connected to the Firefly AI Assistant. Adobe is offering a conversational creative agent within Firefly in public beta. While Claude Connector enables the use of Adobe tools within external AI chatbots, the Firefly AI Assistant provides a deeper creative workflow within the Adobe ecosystem. Both approaches aim for a flow that connects various tools centered around user commands.
The competitive standards for design tools are also changing. Moving forward, it is highly likely that what matters more than the number of individual features will be how accurately the user's intent is understood and executed in the appropriate sequence. Adobe, having entered Claude, demonstrates how creative software is shifting from 'tools within the screen' to 'a bundle of functions invoked by AI.'.
