Samsung Begins Official Distribution of One UI 8.5, Resembling Liquid Glass

Samsung has begun the official rollout of One UI 8.5. Samsung announced that it will first distribute the One UI 8.5 update in Korea starting May 6, 2026, and then sequentially expand it to other regions. This update is available for the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, Galaxy Tab S11 series, and Galaxy Tab S10 series.

One UI 8.5 is a major update that extends the Galaxy AI experience to existing devices. Samsung explained that this update makes the latest Galaxy AI features and personalization capabilities available on more Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Official rollout began first in Korea, and supported regions and models will be expanded sequentially.

The most noticeable change is the interface. One UI 8.5 introduces new visual presentations utilizing translucent panels, floating elements, rounded controls, and soft blur effects. It enhances screen depth and movement across native apps and the system UI, giving a lighter and more three-dimensional impression than the previous One UI.

The Quick Settings panel also becomes more customizable. Users can move the Quick Panel's tiles and widgets to their desired locations and adjust their size and orientation. Brightness and volume sliders can also be rearranged, allowing users to customize the panel around frequently used functions. It is also possible to revert to the default layout if it becomes too cluttered.

New creative features are also being added. Creative Studio in One UI 8.5 is an app that brings together AI-based creative functions. Users can create wallpapers, stickers, greeting cards, invitations, profile cards, and more based on sketches, photos, and text input.
