Swedish audio brand Transparent has unveiled its latest work, the 'Brutalist Speaker'. This product is a work of art that pays homage to the Brutalist architectural style that originated in England in the 1950s. The exterior of the Brutalist Speaker is made of 70% post-consumer recycled aluminum. It has a strong presence with a height of 60cm and a weight of 12kg, and Transparent, famous for its transparent materials, has tried a new visual approach this time by excluding transparency.
“The project is about bringing legendary architecture into people’s homes and bringing the worlds of architecture and design closer together,” says Per Brickstad, Transparent’s creative director.
The two 3-inch tweeters are positioned at a 90-degree angle to maximize the dispersion of high-frequency sound, and the bass reflex design provides powerful lows while maintaining sound clarity. When placed in a corner, the sound reflects off the walls to create an immersive soundstage. The 18-liter sound space delivers deep sound even in a wide space.
The built-in wireless module WiiM Mini works with streaming platforms such as Spotify, Tidal, and Amazon Music, and also supports Apple AirPlay 2 and Amazon Alexa. Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz, 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2, and supports high-resolution audio up to 192kHz, 24-bit.
Transparent was founded in Stockholm in 2012 and has always emphasized sustainability, modularity and design innovation. The Brutalist speaker is a perfect example of this philosophy, combining aesthetic sophistication with technical simplicity. The speaker is available in two finishes, black and metal, and is priced at $4,000.
