On the 22nd, Kakao unveiled its integrated AI brand, ‘Kanana’, at the developer conference ‘IF Kakao’. It declared its leap forward as an AI native company. Kanana means ‘the most me-like AI’ and aims for a hyper-personalized AI service that takes into account the context and emotions of each individual. It is a name created by combining the words Kakao, Native, and Natural.
Kanana consists of 'Nana' for individuals and 'Kana' for groups. 'Nana' remembers conversations shared in all chat rooms and gives reminders of schedules that individuals should not forget. 'Kana' makes suggestions such as summarizing previous conversations in group chat rooms or recommending candidates for company dinners.
They also shared examples of AI utilization such as ‘fake signals’ to prevent abusing, gift recommendations, and customized advertisements. They also announced future plans at the group level, such as Kakao Mobility’s self-driving taxis and Kakao Pay’s personalized financial products. Through a demo demonstration of a voice model trained on the voices of artists affiliated with Kakao Entertainment, they explained that combining Kakao’s AI technology and content IP can expand into various services.
We plan to release an internal test version at the end of this year, improve the service, and then introduce Canaana as a separate application, not KakaoTalk.
