Ballie: Samsung's upgraded smart home assistant robot

Samsung unveiled its upgraded AI robot Ballie at CES 2024.

In 2020, Samsung unveiled Boli at the CES event. At the time, it was completely round and ball-shaped, but this time, the upgraded Bolly looks like a character from Among Us.

The addition of some human characteristics makes it feel more familiar. The horizontally long eye area looks like a person wearing a helmet, and the long distinct areas on either side look like arms.

At work, I check on my pets and feed them or play a video for them to watch. Control smart home appliances based on environment and context. Adjust the lights or close the curtains.

This time, I mainly present my experience using a projector. You can project images from various angles, such as projecting a video conference screen on the wall at home or playing related videos while exercising. Before going to bed, you can play a mood video that fills the entire room.

It looks like a robot vacuum cleaner combined with a beam projector and AI speaker. Since it is a moving robot, it seems like a lot of thought was put into what it could do. However, there are many products that already provide a better experience by separating the beam projector and AI speaker, so I am curious about what kind of benefit I will feel.

Since home appliances used for smart homes are a category that does not change often once a decision is made, the pace of change seems to be slower than that of smartphones.
