Wanted has unveiled its brand-exclusive font, Wanted Sans. It was created in collaboration with Gil Hyeong-jin, Kang Han-bin, and Kim Dong-hwi of the Wanted Lab design team. It expresses the wanted spirit of ‘all possibilities of working people’. It is a sans-serif font that follows the geometric shapes that characterize the new Wanted logo while containing a human voice. This is an open source font that can be used in headings and body text.

Wanted Sans contains various possibilities using fonts, like ‘all the possibilities of working people’. It is said to have started as an in-house hackathon, a one-day project to create a font that conveys the same voice in various environments.
It is said that in line with Wanted's direction, it contains a human aspect in a geometric font. By thoroughly analyzing and learning from high-quality fonts, we solved shape-related problems such as %, which looks dull, and Q, which becomes more blurred as it becomes thicker.
For natural reading, letter spacing, horizontal and vertical stroke contrast, and thickness were carefully adjusted. It is said that it was revised three times by adjusting the relationships between letters and checking the overall context.
It supports Korean and Latin and can be used in the title and body. A total of 7 thicknesses are supported: Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, ExtraBold, Black, and ExtraBlack. It also supports context substitution and OpenType features for readability. With the Open Font License (OFL), you can use the font freely, except when notifying the license and selling the font alone.
This is a wonderful project that expresses the spirit of the company. If the goal was simply to achieve quantitative indicators, I don’t think it would have been achieved. It's cool that we started with an in-house hackathon and created a high-quality, unique font. It's a cute memoir, but the passion for fonts can be felt in the result itself.
