Spotify Fake Music Terror: New Spam 'AI Slop'

Recently, Spotify has been experiencing incidents where AI-generated music has been uploaded to several artists’ pages without permission. This has caused confusion for fans and artists as fake music appears on their album pages, and AI music is being used as a means to steal real revenue from artists.

Spotify has ended its relationship with the distributor who uploaded the fake content and removed the content, but there are calls for new measures to tackle the problem as similar streaming scams are further spread by AI technology.

This phenomenon has begun to be called 'AI slop'. Slop originally meant food waste or waste, but it refers to useless and misleading AI content. 'Slop' is similar to the term 'spam', which spreads unwanted advertising information. With the development of AI, text, images, and videos are pouring into the digital environment. As such, fake websites and accounts are also increasing exponentially.
