Android has rebranded. The world's most popular mobile operating system has updated its wordmark and mascot to coincide with the upcoming announcement of 'Android 14'.
Bugdroid, the symbol of Android, has been transformed into 3D and cute and playful movements have been added. The word mark has also been changed to give it more power while revealing Android's individuality.
Android 14 is scheduled for release this fall, and Google's new phone, the Pixel 8, is also expected to launch soon.

In 2019, the logo changed and snack names like 'Android Lollipop' changed to numbers like '14'. This 2023 rebranding is said to be designed to “reflect Android’s core spirit of openness, repeatability, and inclusiveness.”
Android's mascot, Bugdroid, has been rendered in 3D using a smooth plastic material. The clean geometric shape was maintained to some extent, but a softer texture was expressed. Bugdroy never stays still and keeps moving. Sometimes they grow horns on their heads, wear hard hats, or wear exercise bands. It is not fixed in green plastic and comes in a variety of colors and materials.
The wordmark has also changed. a has been capitalized to A. Unique curves were added for n and r. When placed next to the Google logo, it is easily distinguishable and has sufficient power.
📕 Editor's Notes
The cute bugdroid comes to life. Although the bugdroid symbol in 13 is neat, I thought it was static and boring, but it is a pleasant change.
It does a good job of expressing the ever-changing nature of Android as a platform used by a variety of people. It really looked like a robot, and it gave the impression that it would jump out of the screen and start dancing at any moment.
Seeing the first bug droid is truly impressive. I think this is the power of design.
