My Real Trip has been rebranded. Established in 2012, My Real Trip is Korea's leading online travel platform that helps people travel abroad. Starting with guided tours, we have expanded to attraction tickets, air tickets, lodging, travel insurance, and rental cars to provide everything about travel.

This time My Real Trip changed its symbol and word mark. The changed logo has been applied to the entire app and web service. It has changed from a logo with a diagonal line penetrating the wordmark to a handwritten wordmark. The symbol changed from M to My.

👁️ Designer Eye

We created a logo in a unique way with typography as the main character. Instead of customizing the entire logo, I commissioned a separate design for My. The rest of the fonts used existing typefaces.

In detail, the font styles for M, y, and realtrip are different. M emphasizes the right angle at the end and twists the lines to give a sense of space. The part where y connects to M and the end of y is applied as a curved line to give a handwritten feel. The realtrip is slightly vertical, allowing rather long wordmarks to be read in a narrow area.

My is man vs. man. created by type. man vs. type is a New Delhi-based one-man design studio and type foundry that creates personalized, custom fonts. I have experience collaborating with Apple, Netflix, and Adidas. Type Motion has collaborated with India-based Ankit Gajjar.

The real trip used Neue Montreal from pangram.pangram. Considering expansion, we planned strategies to expand using My, such as Mykids, Mypoints, and Mylongstay.

The overall impression is similar to an Instagram sans headline. It feels similar to directing the flow of typefaces to the direction of straight thick lines rather than the flow of handwriting.

📕 Editor's Notes

It seems that My Real Trip, imprinted as a Korean travel guide, is a challenge to take a bigger leap forward. It seems to have completely changed the impression to make a distinct change in the category of travel. Rebranding of Sulwhasoo by Amorepacific, Hana Tour, and Interpark come to mind.

The unique way of division of labor leaves a unique impression in the memory. However, there is a lack of functionality, such as confusing the distinction between y and words attached to the ending. I wonder what kind of impression it will have on people with an attempt that I have never seen before.
