Netflix's New Graphics: Introducing Newness While Preserving the Brand's Essence

Netflix has released a graphics toolkit created with Koto. We deliver products inspired by the world of film and experiences that span the entire brand.

Consistency is important because Netflix can be viewed continuously on screens of various sizes. For consistency, Koto created new assets based on Netflix's existing design assets.

We created a variety of illustrations and animations using an icon set containing the movie theater's widescreen motif incorporated in the wordmark and the cinematic palette hidden in the Two-Dum animation. Spot illustrations and animation were created with Gica Tam and Michael William Lester. Netflix Sans provides a variety of thicknesses and widths to ensure the same experience in any environment.

The low, wide grid icon set is impressive. I think it's Netflix-like to give it a personality that fits the context without adding too many graphic elements. It is also unique to create a palette using the gradient that can be seen when the 'N' is enlarged in Netflix's iconic Two-Dum animation.
