X has been reclassified as unavailable to minors on the Korean Google Play Store. Previously, it was classified as an app available to users aged 16 and older, but it is now displayed as unavailable to users under the age of 19.

This measure does not mean that the entire X service has been blocked in Korea. The confirmed change is a change in the app age rating within the Korean Google Play Store. Consequently, adolescent users may face restrictions when installing or updating the X app on Android devices.

It is reported that the rating categories include indicators related to extreme violence. Various types of content, such as violent images, sexually explicit content, sensitive political and social issues, and AI-generated images, are uploaded to X in real time. It appears that the potential exposure of such content influenced the adjustment of the app's age rating.

However, as of the same time, the X app was not reclassified as unsuitable for minors on the Apple App Store. In other words, this change should be viewed as a rating change first confirmed on the Korean Google Play Store, rather than a measure applied uniformly across all app markets.

This case demonstrates that content management on social media platforms can also impact the app distribution environment. Even if the service itself is not blocked, access for minors may be restricted if the age rating on the app market is raised.

X is a platform that has grown based on real-time capabilities and openness.
