The professional baseball team Doosan Bears collaborated with sports design agency RARE Design to completely replace their main uniform for the first time in 15 years and announce a new brand identity (BI). RARE Design is a company with experience working on the NBA 75th anniversary logo and BI for several major league teams. The team announced that it pursued this change by signing an official sponsorship contract with global sports company Adidas.
The core of the new BI is 'Fan First'. The emblem expresses 'One Team Bears' where the club, hometown Seoul, and fans are connected as one within the infield diamond. The logo and symbol were changed to a friendly font to emphasize the fan-friendly image. The mascot 'Cheol Woong-i' was also redesigned.
The uniforms were created in collaboration with Adidas. The new uniforms are designed to improve performance, and are made using lightweight fabrics and sublimation transfer marking technology. The Adidas three-stripe design is added to the side of the uniform.
Doosan Bears President Ko Young-seop emphasized the need for change and said that while preserving the Bears DNA, he would meet the expectations of fans through new BI and uniforms that contain innovation. Doosan Bears and Adidas officials attended the signing ceremony and pledged mutual cooperation.
