AI search engine Perplexity has launched a shopping feature for paid subscribers in the United States. The newly added 'Buy with Pro' button allows you to purchase products with saved shipping and payment information and receive free shipping. It is powered by data from partners like Shopify and provides detailed information and AI-recommended reviews on product cards.
Pro subscription costs $20 per month, and in addition to free shipping, it offers 300 advanced searches per day, access to the latest AI models such as GPT-4o, API credits, etc. Non-pro subscribers can also view basic product cards and AI recommended reviews. The 'Snap to Shop' feature allows users to take a picture of a product and search for similar products.
We’ve also launched a new ‘Merchant Program’ for sellers, where sellers can provide their product information to Perplexity to get search and shopping trends and insights, as well as access to a pro payment system.
This shopping feature is available first in the US with plans to expand globally in the future. Perplexity aims to revolutionize the AI shopping experience by competing with traditional search engines like Google.
