Episode Yongsan 241 opened on May 29th. It is a premium co-living house located in a station area with a view of the Han River. Episode is a corporate officetel created by SK D&D, and Yongsan 241 is the 7th Episode following Sinchon, Gangnam, Seocho, Suyu, and Seongsu. The number 241 refers to the combined number of households, common spaces, and experience spaces. It is a good opportunity to experience Episode. Red Bus Bagman, a UX researcherI was given a tour of the building. I could feel the delicate heart that went into designing the residents' experience.
The lobby, named 'CON-T', is a media art wall inspired by Yunseul. It welcomes the residents, 'Eppy', by expressing the season or weather, or showing phrases that are appropriate for the situation, such as personal birthdays or inviting friends.
The 'Lounge Unit', where residents connect, has a completely different feel from a hotel. The warm wooden floor and vintage props make it look like a living room from an American drama.
The room has a wide open space thanks to its 3.7m high ceiling and large windows. Depending on the location, you can see Nodeul Island on the Hangang River, Yongridan-gil, and Ddaengdaeng Street. There are no tall buildings around yet, so the view is wide open. I wondered where in Seoul you can see such a view. The ㅁ-shaped circular structure allows you to move in any direction without any obstructions. There is a small terrace that is uniquely hard to find in officetels, allowing you to connect with nature. You can also experience a wonderful interior with beautiful, high-quality furniture. You can also change your interior with a home furnishing subscription service that changes furniture, appliances, and accessories.
The public spaces with separate functions are interesting. Among them, the experience at 'N-AK', a movie and music appreciation room, was intense. When listening to music, you can't help but be aware of others, but it was great to be able to listen to it as loud as you want because the soundproofing was done to the level of a studio. In addition, you can experience 'J-AN', where you can borrow a beautiful glass and listen to music, 'CORK by epne', where you can store wine, and 'GYEOL', a meditation space to focus on your inner self and create a balanced state. It was cute to see the strange competition in decorating your own space in Cork.
Unlike the days when people owned houses, increased their size, and increased their assets, the way they lived has become more diverse. There are more cases where people prefer to rent and then move out rather than buying their own house. The number of members and the way they organize space have also changed significantly. When there are 1 or 2 people, it is more appropriate to rent a space that is not always used than to own it. There is no longer a need for a person to live there all the time and provide services like before.
In that sense, Episode Yongsan was a space that showed what the most luxurious co-living experience is. It is possible to stay there for a short period of two weeks, so I thought I would like to stay there at least once.
