Good Sitting Positions for Designers

Recently I've been having a bit of an annoying back pain. I don't have a herniated disc in my neck or back, but as time went on, I got tired of sitting in a chair. When concentrating, the number of cases of twisting the body in a strange posture and opening the mouth to look at the monitor has also increased. Why does a posture that seems unhealthy to the body make the mind comfortable and focus better? I don't have a herniated disc in my neck or back, but thinking about my body, which can't even be lifted for the next 70 years, I was concerned about the slight pain.

Sitting, chair, and desk are important keywords for designers who spend most of their day sitting. I thought that I must invest in things related to 'health' so that I can focus on design for a long time and less tiredly. In order to choose a good chair, we have organized the correct sitting.

PS If you have a good chair, please recommend it in the comments.

sit upright

Sitting upright is synonymous with reducing the burden on the body. You can use different parts of your body or use tools such as chairs and desks to reduce strain on your body. Let's take a look at how to properly distribute the weight so that it doesn't burden only certain parts of the body, focusing on our body.

hips, waist

This is the part of the body that suffers the most when sitting. Because many work chairs are designed to fit the body, it's a good idea to keep your butt and lower back pressed against the chair. Rather than standing upright at 90 degrees, lean your back across the chair at 125 degrees or more to distribute the weight. Sit with the feeling that your hips support the entire weight so that your lower back does not bend forward.

leg

A high leg angle puts weight on your hips and lower back, so it's best if they're level or low. It's good to have your hips and knees level and your knees and feet bent at 90 degrees, but it's good if your hips are higher than your knees to avoid rounding your back. The feet are pressed against the floor to distribute the weight. It is good if there is about two spans of space where the legs bend so that the hamstrings are not pressed against the chair.

eight

A high or low arm angle puts weight on your shoulders. Preferably distribute the weight horizontally on an armrest or desk. If you don't have an elbow rest, it's a good idea to get closer to your desk and distribute your arm weight across the desk.

head

If your chair has a headrest, rest your head naturally without disturbing your upper posture. It is said that it is not good for eye health because a lot of monitor light is exposed to the front when the eye level is aligned horizontally in the center. It's good to have your eyes level at 2/3 of the height of the monitor, where you don't lower your head and don't open your eyes wide.

ideal height

proper chair height Height x 0.25It is called. the desk Chair height + (height x 0.13)This is said to be ideal. If you are 170 cm tall, the chair is 44 cm and the desk is 66 cm. For exact length, you can check the exact length by entering my key in the link below.
