Design Compass 24FW: The Way Forward

It's been more than half a year since I focused on the design compass. The goal is still to ask what good design is and to create a design language that can study and explain how to design excellent designs. In order to move forward tirelessly toward the goal, I have established a philosophy and work with three criteria. Is it something I want to do every day? Is it something that only I can do? Is it something that accumulates exclusive value? It's not easy, but I'm collaborating with good people and […]

Goldman Sachs Rebrand: Going Back 4 Years

Goldman Sachs has rebranded. It’s shifting its visual identity away from its money-losing consumer banking business and toward M&A advice for corporate clients. But it’s hard to tell what’s changed. It’s back to the ligature wordmark it’s used since 1999. In 2020, Goldman Sachs removed the Bodoni-based ligature by Dalton Maag and trimmed the rounded caps, citing readability on smaller screens. The new logo is again a combination of the “G” and “S”, with the […]

Beach volleyball at the Eiffel Tower

One of the charms of the Paris Olympics is that the games are held in historic locations. In particular, the beach volleyball event held right in front of one of the most famous buildings in the world, the Eiffel Tower, was a hot topic. The beautifully designed stadiums are also very inspiring, such as the horseback riding event at the Palace of Versailles, the beautiful pastel-colored skateboarding event at the Place de la Concorde, and the fencing event at the Grand Palais, where the World's Fair was held. The Olympics are all about overcoming difficulties and taking on challenges.
