A design featuring Figma, Sanrio, and Hello Kitty in a collaboration tool

This is the 'Hello Kitty & Friends' design created by Figma in collaboration with Sanrio. To celebrate Hello Kitty's birthday, 12 Sanrio characters have been introduced on the online whiteboard tool PGZAM. It will run from November 1 to 8, 2026, and you can select Hello Kitty, My Melody, Keroppi, and others to use for collaborative work.

You can select a character by pressing the ribbon icon on the toolbar. Depending on your selection, the colors of the cursor, masking tape, and sticky notes change together. The character appears next to the cursor or on the toolbar, and changes its pose when you click the preview in the selection window. We have also added a Hello Kitty animation when loading a file and character-specific stamps.

The design team converted the original artwork provided by Sanrio into resizable vector assets. For some characters, the movements to be used were selected based on up to 40 different poses. The color names also reflected the characters' personalities. Pochacco, who likes exercise, was named 'Running Red,' and Tuxedo Sam, who collects bow ties, was named 'Bow Tie Pink.'.

In the Figma Community, you can customize your profile by selecting three of your favorite characters. You can layer character cards like photos and apply themes to the background. Sanrio-themed Figma slide templates and coloring files are also provided. The composition features the characters' appearances and stories divided among work tools and content.

The collaboration extends to the offline space in New York. In posters and advertisements, the character's face was cropped to emphasize its form and color. Inside the pop-up, small decorative icons were enlarged into murals, and the colors and shapes of the graphics were applied to the tiered seating. From the on-screen cursor to the printed materials and the physical space, the same character assets were utilized according to their size and purpose.
