Baedal Minjok is preparing a feature that allows users to split the bill within the app. Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, plans to provide this split-payment feature to select users starting June 16, 2026. Baemin is the first domestic delivery app to introduce an in-app split-payment function.
The new feature allows users to request settlement from other Baemin users after ordering food on Baemin. Settlement can be processed using Baemin Pay Money or by sharing the payer's account information through other payment and transfer apps. Previously, users had to place an order on Baemin and split the payment separately using external apps like Kakao Pay or Toss. This update brings the ordering, payment, and settlement processes closer into Baemin.
This feature is highly likely to be connected to 'Group Order,' which was launched in 2022. Group Order is a feature where multiple people add their desired menu items to a single shopping cart, and a representative makes the payment all at once. While this reduces the risk of missing items, settlement after payment had to be done separately. With the addition of Dutch pay, Group Order becomes closer to a structure of 'choosing together, receiving together, and settling individually.'.
From Baemin's perspective, this has the effect of tying users' post-ordering actions within the app. While the core experience of delivery apps has traditionally been limited to menu browsing and payment, actual users go through the process of settling costs even after placing an order. This process is repeated, particularly in situations where multiple people order together, such as at work, school, or social gatherings. It appears that Baemin intends to enhance the utility of group ordering by incorporating this aspect into its features.
Similar features are already in use on overseas delivery apps. Apps such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grab have offered payment methods for group orders where a representative makes a lump-sum payment or participants split the cost. Baemin's "Dutch Pay" can be seen as a trend of adapting these global delivery app usage patterns to the domestic market.
This also aligns with the strategy to expand the foreign user base. Baemin introduced WeChat Pay and Alipay Plus payments last year and began supporting English, Chinese, and Japanese app languages starting February 2026. Split payment can provide a familiar payment experience for foreign tourists or foreigners residing in Korea when ordering together in a group.
