Yashica has unveiled the Tank, a compact digital camera in the $100 range. While its exterior emphasizes a retro aesthetic, it features a configuration targeting the vlogging market by including 4K video recording and a rotating screen. Sales are scheduled to begin around March 27, 2026.
The Tank uses a 12-megapixel 2.8-inch CMOS sensor. Photos are based on 12 megapixels, and 24-megapixel and 36-megapixel options were also announced. Video supports up to 4K at 30 frames per second. Autofocus and a built-in flash are also included.
A 3-inch 16:9 LCD is mounted on the back. The screen flips 180 degrees, allowing for selfies and screen viewing. It supports 8x digital zoom, and the minimum focus distance is listed as 0.1 meters. Exposure compensation is provided from minus 3 to plus 3, and ISO can be manually set from 100 to 6400. White balance and metering mode selection are also supported.
It uses USB-C for connectivity and charging. It supports Micro SD cards, with a support limit of up to 256 gigabytes. Specifications for an 800mAh lithium battery have been revealed. It will be released in four colors: Black, Brown, Sky Blue, Pink, and Marshmallow.
Amid the resurgence of the compact camera boom, Yashica has positioned the Tank as an everyday camera. This is interpreted as a strategy to capture the demand for content creation by focusing on the experience of easily taking it out and shooting rather than complex setups, while incorporating 4K and a rotating screen.
