Adobe has officially released the mobile app for its generative AI platform, Firefly. On June 17th (local time in the US), iOS and Android versions were released simultaneously worldwide, and anyone can download it from the App Store and Google Play Store.
The Firefly mobile app provides the ability to create images or videos using only text input. It is equipped with key AI editing tools such as Generative Fill, which adds or removes objects from existing images, and Generative Expand, which naturally generates surroundings while expanding the image size. In particular, the generated results are synchronized in real time with Creative Cloud, so you can continue working on them in Adobe's desktop apps such as Photoshop or Premiere Pro.
Adobe has also integrated a number of new third-party AI models into Firefly this time, including OpenAI, Google’s Imagen 4 for image generation, and Veo 3 for video generation, as well as the latest models from generative AI startups like Idgram, Luma AI, Pika, and Runway. This allows users to choose from a variety of models in one app, experimenting with different aesthetic styles and media formats.
Firefly Boards, a collaboration feature for creative teams available in web beta, is designed to allow for the placement of various media such as images and videos on a single screen and the ability to instantly transform them with AI editing tools. Black Forest Labs’ Flux model, which allows for image editing using text commands, is also supported on Firefly Boards.
Adobe emphasizes the transparency of generative AI and automatically attaches ‘content credentials’ to AI-generated content to clearly display the models used and the information generated. This protects the rights of creators and ensures commercial safety for corporate customers.
Currently, the Firefly mobile app is free to download, but for full use, you need to purchase creation credits through a subscription plan of $9.99 per month. A small amount of credits are provided for free, so you can test it out before using it. Paid plan users can use additional features such as high-resolution image creation and use of third-party models.
