Wixel, a visual design platform created by Wix

Israeli website builder Wix has launched Wixel, a standalone AI-based visual design platform, on May 15. Designed to enable even users with no design experience to easily create high-quality visual content, the platform aims to democratize visual content creation beyond website creation.

Wixel automatically performs various editing tasks such as removing the background, adjusting the color, adding text, and changing the layout when a user uploads a product photo. This function helps anyone, whether a jewelry designer, a store owner, or a content creator, to quickly create results. Beyond simple editing, it also includes the ability to create completely new images, and supports creating content that fits your brand in a variety of styles.

“Design is in our DNA, and simplifying complex experiences is what makes Wix great,” said Avishai Abrahami, Wix co-founder and CEO. “We want to democratize design by giving anyone the creative tools they need, without having to be a design expert.” He added, “The launch of Wixel is just the beginning, and it will open up endless creative possibilities.”

Currently Wixel is available in English and operates on a freemium model. Users can use basic features for free or upgrade to a paid plan if they want more templates and advanced features.
