Genesis has unveiled its SUV 'X Gran Equivalent' at the 2025 New York International Auto Show.
The exterior features a long bonnet, flowing C-pillar, and Genesis’ signature ‘two-line’ headlamps, while 24-inch beadlock wheels, polygonal auxiliary lamps, and a split tailgate are applied. The vehicle’s name is inspired by the Arabian racehorse ‘Equator’.
The interior design breaks away from the digitalized car design trend and emphasizes analog sensibility. In the center of the dashboard are four round displays inspired by vintage camera dials. It features individual square sunroofs for all seats, swivel seats, and a modular storage system, and is available in beige and navy colors.
At the same event, Genesis also unveiled the GMR-001 hypercar, alongside the launch of its motorsports project, Magma Racing. Aimed at the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the car features a hybrid powertrain developed in collaboration with ORECA, and its design was led by the Genesis European Design Studio.
The GMR-001 hypercar features the brand’s signature “two-line” lighting design on the front and rear to enhance nighttime driving recognition, while the magma orange livery and flowing curves inspired by the Korean consonants “ㅁ, ㄱ, ㅁ” visually embody its Korean identity. Genesis aims to debut the car in the 2026 WEC and plans to challenge the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The exhibition is interpreted as a declaration that Genesis will expand its portfolio beyond luxury sedans to include adventure SUVs and racing hypercars, broadening its position as a global brand. The vehicles on display will be on display at Genesis House in New York’s Meatpacking District until the end of July.
