Galaxy Unpacked 2025, Galaxy S25 unveiled and more useful AI

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 series at its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025. The announcement includes the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, and is notable for its significantly enhanced AI technology.

The Galaxy S25 series is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which provides 40% improved NPU performance compared to its predecessor. This supports more sophisticated AI-based functions and smoother gaming experiences. In particular, the upgraded ProScaler display technology has significantly improved screen quality. Camera performance has also been enhanced, with the S25 Ultra offering a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and the new ProVisual Engine has further enhanced photo and video recording capabilities.

Samsung put AI at the center of this announcement. The new Galaxy AI provides personalized services while protecting privacy through a personal data engine that processes the user’s data locally. It also makes the user experience more convenient through the Now Bar displayed on the lock screen and AI-based notifications.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display and a titanium body, making it lighter and more durable than previous models. The S Pen has improved durability, and Air Command has been removed. The S25 and S25+ have 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively, and both models have been upgraded to 12GB of RAM.

In addition to the new AI features, Samsung also raised expectations at the event with a brief reveal of the XR headset and the Galaxy S25 Edge, which will be released on February 7 and are available for pre-order now.
