Figma will completely revamp its pricing, seat configuration, and billing models starting March 11, 2025. The fees that were automatically charged will now be restructured so that managers can check them, and the fee structure that was excessively charged due to people working with freelancers and agencies will also be reorganized. Figma's incredible customer obsession is scary, as it usually reorganizes within 1-2 months once it starts hearing from users.
This reorganization mainly includes the introduction of an administrator-centered seat approval system and enhancement of seat-specific functions. The new plan consists of four types of seats: Full, Dev, Collab, and View. Each seat is divided into three plans: Professional, Organization, and Enterprise. All paid seats provide access to FigJam and Figma Slides. The existing Starter free plan will be maintained.
The core of the billing model overhaul is to give more control to the admins. Previously, when a user requested additional seats, they would be automatically billed without admin approval and could be reviewed later. In the new model, seat requests require admin approval. Requested seats can be temporarily used for up to 3 days until the admin approves. Approved seats will be prorated and added to the bill from the date of approval until the end of the subscription period.
The revised fare structure and seat approval process will take effect for existing customers at their first renewal date from March 11, 2025. Existing customers will be notified of the details via email in advance.
In the second half of 2025, a new feature for freelancers and agency clients called Connected Projects will be introduced, which will allow them to collaborate with clients on existing seats without having to purchase separate licenses.
Figma says the reorganization is aimed at improving user experience and providing a better collaboration environment. For more information, please visit the Figma Help Center or contact your account manager.
