Pantone, a global color expert company, announced 'Mocha Mousse (Pantone 17-1230),' a deep, warm brown, as the color representing 2025. Pantone uses color every year to reflect the social mood and cultural trends around the world, and this year, it said it has captured the global desire for harmony, comfort, and everyday pleasure through color.
“Mocha Mousse is luxurious yet earthy, sensual yet classic,” says Leatrice Eiseman, director of the Pantone Color Institute. “It elevates the humble color of brown to a level of luxury and glamour.” “Mocha Mousse speaks to our modern-day desire to embrace everyday pleasures and share them with others,” says Laurie Pressman, vice president of Pantone Colors, emphasizing that the comforting warmth of this color extends beyond just the individual experience to bring solace to all.
Pantone introduced Mocha Mousse as a versatile color that can be used in various fields such as fashion, interior, and beauty. When combined with soft cream, soft pink, and light khaki, it can maximize elegance, and when matched with blue or green, it can create a comfortable atmosphere reminiscent of nature.
Pantone has proposed five color palettes using Mocha Mousse. 'Relaxed Elegance' expresses simple pleasures such as nature walks or sweet desserts, and 'Floral Pathways' conveys warm emotions through harmonious colors reminiscent of the scent of flowers. These palettes can be downloaded and shared by anyone through Pantone's digital tool, 'Pantone Connect'.
Pantone emphasized that Mocha Mousse is more than just a color; it offers a sensual richness that can create personal retreats and small luxury experiences. Evoking chocolate and coffee, this color reflects the modern person’s desire to escape from the everyday and find solace.
