Apple has revealed the design of its new ultra-small desktop Mac Mini. It is less than half the size of its predecessor, and is similar in size to the Apple TV. It is a rectangular prism measuring 12.7cm wide by 12.7cm high, about the size of the palm of your hand.
Equipped with the M4 chip, the CPU performance is improved by up to 1.8 times and the GPU performance is improved by up to 2.2 times compared to the previous M1 Mac Mini. The basic RAM has been increased from 8GB to 16GB. There is speculation that this meets the minimum specifications for running Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence scheduled for release in December can also be used. There is no USB-A port, but it is equipped with two USB-C ports, a headphone port, three Thunderbolt ports, Ethernet, and an HDMI port.
The power button has been moved to the bottom, which has caused controversy. The Mac Mini is not very tall, so you have to hold it awkwardly to turn it on and off. Some say that Apple sacrificed usability and focused on aesthetics. On the other hand, some say that it is not a big problem because we rarely turn electronic devices on and off these days. The charging port of the Apple Magic Mouse, which was also mentioned, was unanimously called a “design crime.”
The way of expressing 'small' is sophisticated. Holding the mini with slightly closed hands and aligning the title with both sides, it looks light and small. When compared side by side with the larger iMac, it looks even smaller. In particular, the 'Compare' in the last area is laughable.
Pricing starts at 890,000 won for 16GB of RAM and it will be available in stores on November 8. A Korean release has not yet been announced.
