There is a huge controversy over the image used by a fruit shop that has entered Naver Smart Store. The shop sells various fruits such as Shine Muscat, raspberries, and tangerines directly from the farm by connecting directly with the farm owner. Recently, many suspicions have been raised because the photos used on the product page are awkward.
The photo used has a strangely crooked finger. The subject is evenly lit across the entire image, giving it the appearance of a wax sculpture. This is a common feature found in AI-generated images.
When the consumer pointed out that the name of the farmer written in the product description was different from the name of the farmer in the photo, the seller responded that the name of the grower may be different from the one written because the product is shipped from multiple farms.
Naver announced on the 18th that it had started an investigation after receiving a report from a user that “the seller provided false information.” Currently, most of the products sold on Naver Smart Store and Kakao Shopping have been taken down.
Informing the farmer who grew the agricultural product is a way to gain consumer trust. However, if a person who does not actually exist is created by AI, it would be disappointing if they did not know. Now that anyone can create an image with AI, it is affecting real life. It is still possible to distinguish the characteristics of AI, but it will become more difficult as technology advances. In order to use the fiery AI usefully in the future, it seems that appropriate regulations will be necessary.
