As competition among delivery apps intensifies, there are major changes to Baemin. The lowest delivery brokerage fee will increase from 6.8% to 9.8%. It will be the same as Coupang Eats. Yogiyo has the highest fee at 12.5%.
Although the delivery fee for Baemin 1 Plus has been discounted to a flat rate, considering the increase in proportion, it does not seem to have a big impact. The monthly advertising fee of 20% for merchants who do not use Baemin 1 Plus will also be refunded, but this only applies to merchants with less than 50 items.
Industry insiders say that this is because Delivery Hero was fined 600 billion won for violating EU anti-trust laws, and they are trying to make up for it. It is assumed that Delivery Hero is trying to maximize its profits from Baemin, the only profitable global service it owns.
The membership service Baemin Club will charge 3,390 won in the future. It was only available to Baemin 1 Plus subscribers, but now store delivery owners can also receive Baemin Club orders. Baemin Club plans to add a discount exclusively for subscribers starting at the end of August.
The app screen, which was requested to be reorganized by the Fair Trade Commission for only inducing Baemin delivery, will be integrated into food delivery that integrates Baemin delivery and store delivery. Store delivery is also provided as a separate tab. It is scheduled to be gradually distributed starting from some areas on August 13.
