Samsung Electronics is also installing the Galaxy AI function in the Galaxy S22, its flagship model from two years ago. Samsung has expressed its ambition to popularize AI by equipping over 100 million Galaxy devices with AI functions. Following the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold, and Flip 5 series last March, we are expanding support for older models. If this trend continues, it seems like 100 million units could be equipped with AI functions.
This became known in the Samsung Members community when a user posted a customer service response to a question about AI support. The response from existing Galaxy users is enthusiastic.
Galaxy S22F, Fold 4, Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8F support the same level of AI features as S23 FE. Real-time interpretation, circle to search, note assist, etc. are supported, but Instant Slow-Mo, which automatically plays videos in slow motion, or weather and time wallpaper, which require higher specifications, are not applied.
Older models such as S21F, Fold 3, and Flip 3 also support AI functions. However, due to limitations in device performance, some AI functions such as Circle to Search and Magic Rewrite are supported.
It was a culture to purchase a new smartphone every year with new features. However, it feels refreshing that even older models offer new features. Now, it appears to be an effort to add new experiences in the upwardly standardized smartphone market. In addition, it seems like a strategy to help customers realize the usefulness of AI and to dominate AI keywords. It seems that Samsung is no longer a fast follower of Apple but has become a frontier pioneering new experiences.
