Porsche announced the Macan SUV transformed into an electric vehicle. This is the second electric vehicle to be sold, following the Taycan launched in 2019. As a result, the Macan will no longer produce an internal combustion engine after the current model.
Built on a platform jointly developed with Audi, the new Macan uses a 100kWh battery and 800V architecture for fast charging capability. Porsche says it can charge from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes. Two versions are offered, the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, with dual motors and four-wheel drive.
The overall impression is that the Panamera has become shorter and taller. The lower part of the front part is completely blacked out without a frame surrounding the grille to prevent it from looking thick. There are many cases where electric vehicles are confused about what to do with the grill part of existing internal combustion vehicles, but it seems like a smart choice. The headlights and upper part are treated with thin curves overall, giving it a sleek feel. The overall design is very similar to the Polestar 4 Coupe. It is similar to the curves of Mercedes-Benz's GLC Coupe.
There are four displays inside. It is equipped with a 12.6-inch coffee-type digital instrument cluster, 10.9-inch center display, and 10.9-inch passenger seat display. The passenger display is optimized for features like video streaming, just like a tablet. Another impressive display is the expansive head-up display measuring a whopping 87 inches. Pricing for the Macan 4 will start at $78,800, including $1,650 in shipping costs, for a total of $80,450. The Macan Turbo starts at $106,950. We're taking pre-orders and we estimate shipping will begin in the second half of 2024.
