Honda unveiled the global EV series Honda Zero, scheduled to be released in 2026, at CES 2024. It unveiled box van concepts named Saloon and Space-Hub.
The Saloon's exterior has a smooth shape, unlike the Cybertruck, which looks like a sharply angled piece of aluminum. This is a side view of the curves of a sports car such as Lamborghini. Unlike other car designs where you don't know how to organize the engine grille, it definitely gives a futuristic impression.
The Space-Hub is like a giant glass carriage. There's a huge panoramic moonroof so you can enjoy the view at any time. The exterior looks like a traditional streamlined van. Since there is no rear window, the rear view is viewed through a camera. It's still a concept, but since it has a steering wheel, it looks like you can drive it manually if you want.
The H mark, which symbolizes Honda, has also changed. It is similar to the symbol used in the 60s. The frame surrounding H has disappeared and is now wider horizontally. The end is slightly angled, but the inside is expressed as a soft curve. This gives the impression of the soft shape of the seats and interfaces inside the car.
The rapid changes in the automobile industry, which has a longer production cycle than any other product, are surprising. The automobile industry, which seemed to remain unchanged for a long time following Tesla's surprising success, is changing rapidly.
I personally like Honda’s design released this time. I think it's because I enjoyed playing Cyberpunk 2077. We look forward to the release of the wonderful Saloon.
