Email is Dead: Is Email Dead?

Mail Chimp and the London Design Museum open a free interactive exhibit examining the impact of email. 'Email is Dead', to be held on September 28th, asks questions about email. Today, 50 years after email was introduced, it is used by over 4 billion people and is an essential part of business communication. In what direction will e-mail expand culturally and technologically after the advent of AI?

Michelle Taite, CMO of Intuit Mailchimp, which delivered the exhibit, said, “Email is one of the most widely used communication tools in the world, a personal connection. “The life-size reminder will tell you how integral email is to our lives.”

👁️ Designer Eye

This exhibition imagines from the beginnings of email in the early 1970s to the future of email in 2070. It explores how email's impact goes beyond just a communication tool and helps shape our work lives, relationships, culture and economy.

A beautiful space design like a mail chimp is attractive. The yellow color of the traditional postal paper at the entrance of the exhibition hall and the red dot representing notification are strong. It is attractive that a negative space strike is added to the dead in the sentence “e-mail is dead”. Email isn't dead at all.

Visitors take the Email Personality Test to find out what type of emailer they are. Ask your email time capsule with a colorful interactive display. Use the email therapy machine to explore how email affects you over time and write the email you will receive in a year.

Experience how to deal with piles of unanswered emails and overcome the temptation to send unanswered emails with Inbox Elixir. It is said that there is a photo booth that leads visitors to an unexpected place and prints postcards there.

📕 Editor's Notes

As the corona era fades, the offline experience is getting attention again. You can do a lot of things online, but there's no substitute for experiencing a space with all five senses. We planned a provocative and memorable exhibition just like Mailchimp, which is famous for its brand/marketing design. I am writing the email like breathing, but I haven't been able to see how it affects me specifically, but if possible, I would like to experience this exhibition.
