The London Nature History Museum, a popular British museum, has been rebranded in celebration of its 150th anniversary. We collaborated with Pentagram, Nomad Studio, and Heavenly.
This rebranding focused on expressing the universal connection of everything between Earth and nature. “It symbolizes the connection between the earth and everything in nature and expresses the energy that reflects the museum’s mission to become an agent of change,” he said.

As a natural history museum, it was expressed based on inspiration from nature. The pulsation of the earth, the sounds of animals, the tracks of birds, and other symbolic changes in nature are wonderfully captured in one visual expression.

The triple ring image created using three alphabets looks like sunlight extending out. It expresses literally 'natural' movements such as Ripple, Growth, Pulsate, and Orbit. Designers can flexibly create motions that can be used in a variety of environments with dedicated creation tools.

The font is Display Type Foundry's NHM Wallop, which has been transformed to express a unique identity. We have selected a typeface that is timeless and does not follow trends. It is a modern and familiar typeface for everyone, and it is used in uppercase and lowercase letters for wordmarks, titles, and body text.

📕 Editor's Notes
It is a wonderful branding that can express the main subject, the natural history museum, while revealing the important subject of nature through photographic images. The contrast between concrete photographic images and abstract graphics gives the impression that it is different from other museums as it reveals each other more intensely.
You might think something for everyone is boring, but it seems like a great example of design. It is a good attempt to increase interest in nature, which was once treated as 'a boring job that has nothing to do with me'. I hope that there will be more designs that change this perception in the future.
