Config 2023 Day 2 is over. When talking about the future of design right now, various people shared their thoughts on AI, which is indispensable. In addition to new technologies, there were plenty of examples of how to use Figma or how to use it to achieve great results.
👁️ Designer Eye
The first session was presented by Figma's VP of Design, Noah Levin. We shared how AI and ChatGPT have changed the world and design. He said that the experience of using the app is changing from the way of asking a task, and that what needs to be learned is disappearing between intention and action.
He said that design is gradually changing from combining individual design elements into atoms, to designing to select patterns. Collaboration will be strengthened in the future, and design is not just for designers, and it will change to design partners, not stakeholders.

Diagram is a company that has been focusing on automation by producing figma plug-ins for a long time. We plan to combine automation and AI to deliver advanced product experiences.
Currently, we provide Magicain, which uses AI to create the necessary content for various designs, and Automator, which replaces multiple repetitive tasks. In the future, we plan to release UI-AI, an AI model for designers who create designs using text and images, and Genius, which creates designs with messages and AI assists in areas necessary for producing various designs.
adobe firefly
Adobe, one of the most influential design firms, shared how it uses AI for its programs. We shared how to create images in Photoshop, how to create different color versions in illustrations, and how to apply various graphic effects to 3D modeling by entering scripts.
📕 Editor's Notes
Still we design
I remember saying that the tools have changed, but we are still designing. The essence of the designer has not changed. There's been a lot of talk about being optimistic about using AI. There are a lot of interesting sessions, such as how to use Duolingo's AI, MIT Lab researchers and meta designers' thoughts on the next-generation UI, Chromatic's pixel-perfect UI, and Slack's brand guidelines, so be sure to watch them.
