Figma's annual event, CONFIG 2023, has begun. As a company that makes user-centric updates at a rapid pace, this announcement is shocking and scratches the designers itches. Today, on the first day, we shared a major product update from Figma.

AI
Figma has acquired Diagram, the company behind Genius, an AI assistant plugin. We have created AI tools useful for creating digital products in various ways, such as Automator, Magician, UI-AI, and Genius. I'm looking forward to seeing what cool features using AI will be added to Figma in the future.

Auto Layout Auto Layout
The way multiple layouts are laid out has been refined. The minimum/maximum length/height function of the layer has been added, and you can set the wrapping of Wrap that wraps the entire layer.

Variable Variable
Variable management is much easier. While porting the concept of design tokens to Figma, it became possible to manage the whole with Variables. Various variables handled in CSS, such as frame values, text contents, color values, whether to show or not, can also be managed in Figma. You can easily manage multiple languages.

prototyping
Static values change dynamically. The values of other elements could not be changed by the values of other elements, but now you can design interactions by setting conditions. For example, if you change the number representing the number of items in your shopping cart, the total number will change. Complex prototyping lines to express various conditions are changed to concise.

Dev Mode Dev Mode
A development mode is added for developers who occupy a significant area of Figma users. It introduces a variety of features that allow you to edit code directly while viewing Figma, such as the inspector panel, change history view, code snippets, resource links, and VS Code plugins. From next year, it will change to a fee, and Organization is said to be $25 and Enterprize is $35.

📕 Editor's Notes
Figma is getting closer to the developer mode of web browsers. Layout and prototyping have become similar to development with CSS and JQuery. As technology develops, just as user interfaces become centered on our bodies, such as horses and hands, design tools are gradually disappearing from the middle and getting closer to the final result.

The Future Needs More Thinkers and Builders
A great sentence at the end of the keynote is memorable. It seems that the future of design can be created without thinking about what a good experience is and without technical limitations. A world where only my imagination is the limit is really fast approaching.
