Anthropic has unveiled Claude Tag. Claude Tag is an AI team member that enters a Slack channel. Users can tag @Claude in Slack to assign tasks based on the conversation.
The existing Claude Slack app was closer to a question-and-answer model. Claude Tag accesses selected channels, remembers relevant information, and builds the context of the conversation. It allows you to break down tasks into steps and process work by utilizing the necessary tools, data, and codebases. Once the work is finished, it leaves the results in a Slack thread.
Anthropic stated that it is already using Claude Tag internally. They explained that the product team's code 65% is being created using the internal version of Claude Tag, and that it is also being used to check product metrics, process support tickets, and analyze the causes of bugs.
Currently, Claude Tag is launching first on Slack. It is available in beta to Claude Enterprise and Claude Team customers. Administrators can set the channels and data scopes that Claude can access.
For users, the way AI is used changes. Instead of asking the AI separate questions, the workflow shifts to assigning tasks within team conversations. From a corporate perspective, Slack messages, documents, code, and work tools become the context for the AI's work. At the same time, permission management—determining how much company conversation data is shared with the AI—becomes more critical.
