Perflexity has unveiled 'Model Council,' a feature that runs multiple cutting-edge AI models simultaneously to combine solutions. This initiative stems from the recognition that as frontier models rapidly advance, their strengths vary depending on the nature of the task, making it difficult for users to determine which model to select. Based on internal data showing that model performance varies more significantly across tasks such as coding, research, and creative work, Perflexity explained that it plans to establish multi-model validation as its standard workflow.
Model Council is a method in which a single question is executed on three models simultaneously, after which a separate synthetic model reviews the results and consolidates them into a single answer. It is a structure that adjusts for possible conflicts during the synthesis process and reveals where the models reached the same conclusion and where their perspectives diverged. This enables users to compare the same query in parallel without having to manually switch models to cross-check results.
Perflexity identified 'blind spots' as the reason why multiple models are necessary. The explanation is that a single model may tend to miss context, overemphasize a particular perspective, or fill in gaps with confident estimates. The logic is that if models converge to the same conclusion, it provides grounds for faster execution, while the emergence of discrepancies can be used as a signal that further verification is needed.
High-risk decision-making areas, such as investment research, were presented as use cases. The purpose is to secure a balanced perspective on questions where bias can lead to costs, such as financial decision-making in the stock market. Complex decision-making, like formulating strategies for major career purchases, creative brainstorming for idea generation, and fact verification were also outlined as key applications.
This feature is available to Perflexity Max and Enterprise Max subscribers. According to the documentation, it is stated that it is included in the $200 per month or $2,000 per year fee for Personal Max. Currently, it is only available on the web, and mobile app support is indicated to be expanded in the future. The access method is described as clicking the plus button next to the search bar on the web homepage and selecting Model Council.
