Magenta, a vibrant card game

This is Magenta, a card game presented by CMYK. This project was conducted in collaboration with Studio SMLXL and Principi, and the goal was to create a pack system that would preserve the individuality of each game while creating a sense of unity as a collection.

The design starts with the card form. Using the card format as a structural foundation, we simultaneously designed the packaging and graphic design, ensuring that as the lineup expands, it appears as a single, collectible collection.

The packaging is clearly divided into an exterior and an interior. The exterior is unified by a strong magenta shell, making it instantly identifiable on the shelf. The interior focuses on a graphic language unique to each game. The cover features a die-cut window, allowing for variable window positioning, and the illustrations revealed through the window are designed to align with the graphics on the back of each game's card. The structure embodies the sense of surprise and playfulness upon opening.

The side panels were also actively utilized as information areas. The Game Spine not only contained the title, but also organized the numbers and specifications, making the display itself a display. This serves as a device that stimulates the desire to collect while also reinforcing brand consistency.

The functional design is also meticulous. The package's interior is constructed with a bento box structure, ensuring precise storage and securing of the components according to their shape and size. Index-style icons are placed below the numbers, enhancing accessibility so that even users with color vision impairments can easily distinguish and enjoy the game. The rulebook is divided into chapters like a compilation, streamlining the reading flow and enhancing comprehension speed.
