Porsche 90th Anniversary 911 Watch

Porsche Design has unveiled a limited-edition chronograph watch inspired by the 911 GT3 to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The Chronograph 1 90 Years of FA Porsche, based on the brand's iconic Chronograph 1, is distinguished by its focus on a person rather than a product. Its modern architecture, inspired by the all-black chronograph from 1972, is overlaid with the personal narrative of the designer, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche.

The watch features a black-coated titanium case measuring approximately 40 to 41 millimeters in diameter and is equipped with the in-house WERK 01 flyback chronograph movement. This COSC-certified movement is water-resistant to 10 bar and offers a flyback function suitable for motorsports. The dial features a tri-compax layout reminiscent of an instrument panel, with white indexes and a red chronograph seconds hand for easy readability.

Design-wise, the watch embodies a vintage sensibility in a restrained manner. Patina-toned Super-LumiNova is applied to the hands and indexes, but any excessive aging is avoided. The crown and buckle feature the early Porsche Design logo, adding a quiet sense of history. The initials FAP at the top of the dial evoke the personal watch worn by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, creating the impression of stepping back from the brand's central narrative.

Flipping the caseback over reveals a rotor inspired by the wheels of the 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche Edition. Just like the limited production of 90 cars, the watch is also limited to 90 pieces, each individually numbered and engraved with the designer's signature on the caseback. The watch is presented on a brushed black titanium bracelet and a truffle brown leather strap, further highlighting its connection to the car's interior.
