Spotify Unveils New Feature 'Party' in Wrapped 2025

Spotify unveiled Wrapped 2025, its year-end data review service, and a new social feature party. This year's Wrapped focuses on how users connect with each other, going beyond the experience of checking individual records. Spotify described this update as its biggest yet, introducing several new features.

The most notable feature is the real-time social game party, where up to ten people can participate simultaneously. Users can check all the raps on the mobile app, then press the "Start Party" button to send invitations to their friends. Once participants have gathered, various superlatives are presented in order, comparing each person's streaming data. Users who have spent the most time this year, those most passionate about a particular artist, and those who have listened to the rarest tracks are highlighted on the screen. Fun elements like the Onion Chopper, awarded to those who listen to the most sad songs, and the Crate Digger, awarded to those who delve into lesser-known music, are also added.

Parties are available to both free and paid Spotify users. However, they're only available on the mobile app, so the full Wrapped experience isn't available on desktop. Spotify emphasized that this feature expands Wrapped into a more social experience. Matthew Lux, Spotify's Global Marketing Director, explained that Wrapped has traditionally been enjoyed solo, but this year, they've created a format that allows you to enjoy it with friends and family.

This year, Wrapped adds a variety of new features beyond parties. The app introduces Listening Age, which analyzes your music preferences to determine how old you are, and Top Artist Sprint, which shows how your favorite artists have moved up and down the charts throughout the year. For the first time, Spotify also reveals your most-played albums. Wrapped also adds a new feature, Wrapped Clubs, which assigns users to one of six listening styles and grants them roles like Club Leader, Scout, and Archivist.

Spotify announced that this year's version fully incorporated user feedback after last year's controversial AI-driven Wrapped experience. While the entire experience doesn't boast AI-generated content, large-scale language models were used to interpret the data and translate it into natural language. Spotify emphasized that Wrapped remains the standard-setting service even amidst fierce competition in the year-end market.

Bad Bunny was the most streamed artist globally this year, while Taylor Swift took first place in the US. The top song globally was "Die With a Smile" by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, while Bad Bunny also took the top album. In the premium audiobook category, "Fourth Wing" was the most streamed.
