Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold Launch

Samsung Electronics has officially unveiled its new foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, which folds into three stages. The Galaxy Z TriFold offers a large 10-inch screen of 253mm when unfolded. When folded, it has the same 6.5-inch bar-type form factor as the Galaxy Z Fold7, with a thickness of 12.9mm when folded and a thinnest point of 3.9mm when unfolded. The infolding structure that folds both sides of the phone inward has been adopted to increase the efficiency of protecting the main display. A protective function has also been added that notifies with an on-screen notification and vibration if an abnormality is detected during the folding process.

The Armor Flex Hinge, designed for a tri-folding structure, features a dual-rail design on both sides. The hinge housing is made of titanium, while the frame is made of Advanced Armor Aluminum. The front uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, while the back uses a new glass fiber composite material for durability and lightweight design. Before bonding the body and display, the device undergoes a CT scan and laser scanning process to ensure thorough inspection of components and surface quality.

It's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for the Galaxy and features a 200-megapixel wide-angle camera on the back. The battery capacity is 5,600 mAh, the largest in the Galaxy Foldable series. The 3-cell battery is distributed across three panels to ensure balanced power supply. It also supports up to 45W ultra-fast charging.

The 10-inch large screen focuses on expanding AI and multitasking experiences. Users can fully expand the screen and utilize the Multi Window feature, which allows them to run up to three apps side by side. Each app can be freely resized to suit the situation. The taskbar at the bottom right of the screen allows users to quickly access recently used apps to continue their workflow. The Samsung Internet app displays original content, Galaxy AI-generated summaries, and translation results on the same screen for easy comparison. The Samsung Health app utilizes the wide screen to display various health information in an intuitive layout. Generative editing and sketch conversion features simplify image editing and creative work, and the original view allows users to see the before and after effects at a glance.

Gemini Live, upgraded with multimodal AI, also supports this feature. You can share information displayed on the screen or scenes captured by the camera with the AI in real time, ask questions, and receive answers. It's also the first Galaxy smartphone to feature a tablet version of Samsung DeX. Launch DeX from Quick Settings to create a PC-like work environment without a separate monitor. Up to four virtual workspaces can be created, each capable of running five apps simultaneously, making it easy to separate work and personal tasks. It also offers a dual-screen feature that wirelessly connects to an external monitor, further enhancing productivity.

The Galaxy Z Trifold will be released first in Korea on the 12th. It will then be sequentially released in global markets, including China, Taiwan, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. In Korea, it will be available at 20 stores nationwide, including Samsung.com and Samsung Gangnam, and customers can experience the product firsthand at these stores starting on the 9th.
