Naver's group social media platform, "BAND," is undergoing a major app revamp, along with a new logo. This change is considered a rebranding update that not only improves the home screen design and UI, but also revamps the overall brand image. The new design will be implemented on iOS on the 22nd, and the update will be rolled out sequentially on Android starting on the 28th.
This reorganization marks the first major update in three years, since 2022. Naver has consistently implemented smaller updates, such as adding AI-based photo and video labeling, refining email notifications, and categorizing the news tab. However, this marks the first time the home screen and logo have been updated simultaneously.
The revamped home screen features a rounded design, replacing the traditional angular band profiles, and displays up to six bands on the home screen. An advertising profile will be placed at the end to maximize ad exposure. The button for viewing the full list of bands has been moved to the upper right corner of the home screen, streamlining the screen layout.
The new logo, unveiled alongside the logo, retains the original green tone while being simplified and redesigned to enhance readability on mobile devices. The letter thickness and spacing have been adjusted to provide visual stability, and the app icon has also been updated to a brighter green with rounded corners.
Since its launch in 2012, Band has been available in 178 countries and eight languages worldwide. Its unique concept as a closed group community has led to its growth in the global market. In the US and Japan, in particular, it has established itself as a gathering-based SNS focused on schools and local communities.
