Lomography has unveiled its first full-metal 35mm film camera, the Lomography MC-A. Priced at $549, it's the most expensive camera in Lomography's analog lineup. Unlike previous plastic-bodied models, it features an aluminum housing and supports both manual and automatic exposure.
The Lomo MC-A is a compact point-and-shoot camera with a built-in 32mm f/2.8 lens. It features a multi-coated glass lens with a five-element, five-group construction for sharper images. Shutter speeds range from Bulb (B) to 1/500 second, and the aperture can be adjusted from f/2.8 to f/16. Exposure modes include Program Auto, Aperture Priority, and Full Manual, providing a wide range of options for photographers from beginners to experts.
Autofocus and manual zone focus are also available, with manual settings up to ISO 3200. The built-in flash reaches up to 4m at ISO 400 and supports PC sync. Unlimited multiple exposure functionality allows for creative film photography.
Power is provided by a USB-C rechargeable CR2 battery. While common in digital cameras, this rechargeable battery system is rare in film cameras, enhancing user convenience. Furthermore, the camera incorporates detailed analog features, such as a manual film advance lever, LCD status screen, tripod mount, and 30.5mm filter thread.
The MC-A's three shooting modes are fully automatic for beginners, aperture priority with depth-of-field control, and fully manual. Creative shots like long exposures and light painting are also possible. The flash is further subdivided into three modes—auto, front-curtain sync, and rear-curtain sync—making it useful for night photography and creating colorful effects.
The front of the camera is engraved with Lomography's signature humorous phrase, "Everybody is equal before the lens — and behind it." This phrase symbolizes Lomography's unique philosophy.
This product is available in two colors, black and silver, and includes a camera wrap, UV filter, leather wrist strap, and leather lens cap. Additionally, a splitter lens attachment and color gel filters are available as options.
The Lomo MC-A is scheduled to ship in December and is currently available for pre-order at the official Lomography store. This long-awaited full-metal analog camera offers a new photographic sensibility to photographers in the digital age.
