New chip and AI processing performance in the Apple MacBook Pro M6 and 14-inch model

Apple has unveiled a new 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the M6 chip. Announced on October 27, the product continues the existing Liquid Retina XDR screen and aluminum exterior. It comes in two colors: Space Black and Silver.

The center of the change is the internal chip. The M6 features 12 cores for both the CPU and GPU, an increase of 2 cores for each compared to the previous M5. Apple explained that in its own tests, graphics performance improved by up to 301 TP3T, and on-device AI task performance improved by up to 251 TP3T. Key applications include image editing, 3D modeling, and animation rendering.

The screen supports a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits for HDR content. It also offers a nano-texture option to reduce reflections and glare in brightly lit spaces. Up to two external displays can be connected. Equipped with three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, and an SDXC card slot, it connects monitors, storage devices, and camera memory cards.

With the accompanying macOS 27, users can adjust screen transparency. Use the slider in Settings to change Liquid Glass from transparent to a saturated state. The outlines of app icons have also been refined. We have added options to adjust the screen appearance while maintaining the form of the hardware.

Wireless connectivity supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Integrated memory is 16GB by default and can be selected up to 32GB. Battery life is up to 24 hours according to Apple's measurements and varies depending on usage and configuration.

U.S. pricing starts at $1,999. Pre-orders begin on October 28 (U.S.), and shipping and in-store sales start on November 6.
