Mirage aims to evolve beyond a simple creator tool into a multimodal AI lab for short-form video platforms like TikTok, Reels, and Shorts.
This rebranding integrates the company's existing flagship video production platform, "Captions," and its brand and advertising solution, "Mirage Studio," launched last June, under a single, unified brand. Mirage Studio uses AI to generate entire videos from a single audio file, including backgrounds and characters. Users can also create their own avatars by uploading a selfie.
Mirage emphasizes that its avatars feature natural speech, facial expressions, and movements, without relying on existing stock footage, voice cloning, or lip-syncing technology. This differentiation is a key differentiator from competitors like D-ID, Synthesia, and Hour One. Mirage Studio is currently available on a business plan for $399 per month, with a 50% discount for the first month.
Mirage responded to these concerns on its blog. The company stated that it has established internal guidelines to prevent abuse, including restrictions on avatar creation, a consent process for portrait rights, and a ban on unauthorized copying of users. However, it emphasized that the real solution lies not in technology, but in "new forms of media literacy." It suggested that viewers should be as critical as they are when reading news headlines.
