Naver Webtoon Short-Form "Cuts" Opens

Naver Webtoon has officially expanded its ecosystem into the animation sector with the launch of "Cuts," a new user-generated short-form animation service. The company began rolling out the service sequentially on Android and iOS apps on the 25th, with the official launch scheduled for September 1st.

Cuts is a platform where anyone can create and watch short animations under two minutes long. Reflecting the recent trend of users preferring short-form video content, Cuts lowers the production barrier compared to long-form or live-action animation. It empowers creators to easily experiment with stories and provides users with a new, fast-paced content experience.

The service features highlights from popular Naver Webtoon originals, along with new animated works from creators like Lee Yoon-chang of Zombie Daughter, Gaspard of Innate Idiots, and Langto of Gadamhangseol. Furthermore, series from creators already well-known in the short-form genre, such as Lee Sam-sip, Ssokdoksanim, and Ketchup Demon King, have been added, along with award-winning works from major domestic webtoon and animation department contests, broadening the content offering.

To ensure stable service, Cuts will be gradually rolled out to mobile apps starting this week. Accessibility may vary depending on device configuration. Starting next month, Cuts will be available to everyone on PC and mobile web, along with the Naver Webtoon app.

Naver Webtoon has established a domestic webtoon UGC ecosystem through its Challenge Comics service in 2006. Through Cuts, the company plans to create a new creation and consumption structure that combines webtoons and animation, and to launch various creator support programs within the year.
