KFC and luxury streetwear brand Aries have joined hands for a groundbreaking fashion collaboration. The capsule collection, called 'Gravy Drip,' features 10 clothing, accessories, and lifestyle products themed around KFC's signature side dish, 'gravy sauce.'
“This collection is a love letter to our ‘liquid gold,’” said Phoebe Sims, KFC brand manager, explaining that the word “drip” connotes cool style while also conjuring up images of actual sauce flowing.
This capsule collection actively reflects Aries’s love of classical Italian art and Roman symbolism. From leather jackets with angels and chicken drumsticks reminiscent of Renaissance paintings to laurel wreaths and white robes reminiscent of ancient Rome, to T-shirts with the words “KFC sacrum Aries,” the style stands out with its mix of irony and antiquity.
The capsule collection includes denim that reinterprets Roman banquets in digital print, a black T-shirt with gold gravy, and a black sweatshirt with sharp gold detailing. Other eye-catching items include a sticker pack that combines Roman architecture with chicken, a gold drumstick pendant coated in gravy, and a luxurious ceramic gravy boat.
“Inspired by the Roman notion of orgies, indulgence and ritual, I wanted to create work that coexists with irony and sophistication,” says Aries founder Sofia Frantera. The campaign was shot by renowned photographer Douglas Irvine, and visually captures the spirit of collaboration through surreal images reminiscent of Renaissance paintings.
KFC has had a model walk down Sinead Gorey's runway carrying chickens in the past, and the brand has continued to collaborate in fun and quirky ways, including releasing a drumstick bag with Loungefly.
