Google unveiled its next-generation technology strategy centered on artificial intelligence at its I/O 2025 keynote in California, USA. The announcement introduced new experimental technologies such as the enhancement of image and video generation models, AI integration into existing services such as search, Gmail, and Chrome, and movie production apps and 3D video calling devices.
First, in the search area, the 'AI Search Mode' based on Gemini AI is available to all users across the United States. Starting this summer, deep search and financial and sports charting functions will be introduced, and shopping functions will also be tested. AI Mode will allow users to access faster and more summarized information.
Image creation AI 'Imagen 4' and video creator 'Veo 3' have also been significantly upgraded. Imagen has improved text interpretation capabilities and image format diversity, and Veo can now create videos with sound. A new AI movie creation app 'Flow' based on this has also been released, allowing users to directly create and edit short video content based on text and images.
AI assistant 'Gemini' will be fully installed in the Chrome browser, and users can easily perform web page summarization, information organization, and tasks across multiple tabs through the Gemini button. The 'AI Ultra' subscription plan, which includes this, has also been introduced, providing a high-performance AI environment that can run up to 10 tasks simultaneously for $250 per month.
The AI-based shopping function also attracted attention. Users can upload a full-body photo to preview how they would look in various outfits, and in the future, a function to automatically pay for products will also be added.
In addition, the smart glasses platform 'Project Aura', Google Meet that enables real-time voice translation, and Gmail's smart reply function that considers the context of the inbox also attracted attention. Google also announced an AI UI creation tool called Stitch, and continues to experiment with new ways to automate design work.
