Lightwear HP1: Retro lightweight headphones from KM5

Japanese audio specialist brand KM5 has unveiled the 'Litewear HP1' wireless headphones that combine retro design with modern technology. It is designed based on a thin and light exterior reminiscent of Sony's Walkman headphones from the 1980s.

The HP1 is lightweight at 103g and features a stainless steel headband and thin ear pads that rest on your ears. Unlike older models that often lack durability and sound quality, this model is equipped with 40mm drivers to provide a clear and wide sound range.

The biggest feature is that it supports active noise cancellation (ANC) function and transparent mode at the same time. It supports Bluetooth 5.4 and has a battery performance that can be used for up to 24 hours. However, since the left and right units are not connected by a cable, there is the inconvenience of having to charge each earcup individually. For this purpose, the KM5 provides a USB-C charging cable that splits into two sides.

There are two colors, black and white, and the black model has black or red ear pads, while the white model has gray or turquoise ear pads. The magnetic detachable structure allows you to easily replace the ear pads, allowing you to change the styling.

The operation method utilizes physical buttons, and you can intuitively use functions such as play and stop, volume control, and calling the voice assistant. It supports various Bluetooth codecs such as SBC, AAC, and LE Audio.

KM5 previously collaborated with fashion brand BEAMS to present a transparent CD player, continuing the design philosophy of considering the hardware itself as an object.

It will be available for sale through the official online store starting in late April 2025 for $189.
